Palma Coffee Table
Description
The Palma coffee table pairs a charcoal aluminum frame with an FSC teak top, and lets those two materials carry the whole design. The open grain of the teak reads warm against the dark charcoal metal, and the low, level profile keeps the table visually quiet inside a seating group. It is a clean modern piece that works just as well with rope lounge chairs as it does with a deep upholstered outdoor sofa.
At 10 inches high, Palma sits low, below the seat line of most outdoor sofas and lounge chairs, which is exactly where you want it for drinks, trays and books. Choose the rectangular version at 59 inches wide when you are anchoring a full sofa or a facing pair of sofas, or the square version at 28 inches wide for a tighter conversation group on a balcony, a pool deck or a covered terrace. Both share the same 32 inch depth, so either shape lines up the same way against your seating.
Aluminum does not rust, which is what you want within reach of salt air, and the charcoal frame handles long hours of direct sun. Teak takes South Florida humidity and afternoon storms in stride, and left untreated it will weather from warm honey to a soft silver grey over a season or two. If you prefer the original tone, occasional teak oil keeps it closer to the color it arrived in.
