Teak and Rope Outdoor Furniture for a Boca Raton Fall: The Pebl Tolo and Haven Ranges

By Thais Monteiro, Brazilian Lifestyle and Warm Modern Design Contributor at SoBe Furniture

I grew up in Brazil, where the veranda is the real living room, and I still feel a little sad when I walk onto a beautiful Boca Raton terrace and find two tired chairs and a glass table that nobody touches. The house has a pool, a view of the water or the golf course, and weather most of the country would envy from late October through April. Yet the family spends those months inside with the air conditioning on, because the outdoor furniture is too hot, too faded or simply too uncomfortable to sit in for more than ten minutes.

Here the trouble usually starts with the wrong materials. Steel that blooms with rust after one summer of salt air in Highland Beach. Cushions that soak up an afternoon storm and stay damp until Thursday. Dark resin that gets too hot to touch by noon on a pool deck in Parkland. People replace the set every few years and decide that outdoor furniture is just disposable. It does not have to be.

Fall is the moment to fix it. The heat breaks, snowbird season begins, and families start arriving for the holidays. If you want a terrace that is ready for Thanksgiving dinner outside, now is when to choose. In this post I want to walk you through the Pebl Tolo and Haven ranges, which pair teak, aluminum and olefin rope, and explain how I would put them together for a South Florida home.

Why Teak and Rope Make Sense on a South Florida Terrace

When I talk with clients about outdoor pieces, I start with the weather, not the style. Our climate asks three things of furniture: survive salt air, survive strong sun, and dry quickly after the rain that arrives most afternoons in summer. Teak, aluminum and olefin rope answer those questions well, which is why both of these ranges are built around them.

Aluminum does not rust. That matters more than anything else if you live near the Intracoastal in Delray Beach or a few blocks from the ocean in Boynton Beach. Olefin rope is made to hold its color under strong sun and to shed water fast, so a rope back is dry long before a padded one. Teak handles humidity and salt air in stride. Left alone, it weathers to a soft silver gray. Oiled from time to time, it keeps a warmer honey tone.

A Simple Framework for Choosing Your Outdoor Pieces

Before you fall in love with a single sofa, I ask clients to answer four questions. They take five minutes and they save a lot of second guessing.

How will you actually use the space?

Be honest. If your family drinks coffee outside in the morning and watches the sunset with a glass of wine, you need deep lounge seating and a coffee table at the right height. If you mostly swim and read, a chaise by the pool will get far more use than a second armchair. Most Boca Raton homes need a bit of both: a conversation group under cover and one or two places to lie out in the sun.

Covered terrace or open pool deck?

A covered lanai protects cushions from the worst of the rain and the midday sun, so upholstered seats live an easier life there. On an open deck, rope and teak earn their place, and pieces that move easily are worth a lot. Look at where the shade falls at ten in the morning and at four in the afternoon. That tells you where people will sit.

Warm wood or cool metal?

Both ranges let you lean one way or the other. Teak reads warm, with visible grain, and it suits homes with natural stone, white stucco and a lot of greenery. Mocha aluminum reads more contemporary and pairs well with grey pavers and modern glass railings. Pick the one that belongs to your house.

How much care are you willing to give?

Teak asks for a choice: let it go silver, or oil it now and then. Aluminum asks for a rinse with fresh water from time to time, especially near the beach. Cushions ask to be brought in before a storm. If you travel for months, I lean toward the finishes that look good with less attention.

The Tolo Range: Deep Seats and an Adjustable Back

The Tolo is the range I show people who want to sink into their outdoor sofa. The Tolo Sofa is a three seater on a rope wrapped frame, 93 inches wide and 51 inches deep, with a deep seat in light grey fabric and a backrest worked in light grey olefin rope. The Tolo sofa design won a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2026, and it is easy to understand why when you see the profile. The rope softens that long horizontal line, so a sofa this size still looks relaxed instead of heavy.

The detail I like most is the backrest, which adjusts from upright to reclined. Upright, it is a conversation sofa for a covered terrace. Reclined, it becomes the place you nap after a long lunch with family.

It comes in two finishes. The mocha version sets a mocha aluminum frame against latte olefin rope. The teak version pairs teak wood with beige olefin rope and Sunproof fabric upholstery. Two 20 x 20 in cushions and two 24 x 24 in cushions come with it. The Tolo Sofa starts at $4,599.

In front of it I would put the Tolo Coffee Table, 71 inches wide, 32 inches deep and 15 inches high, from $1,899. It comes with a mocha aluminum frame and beige ceramic top, or in teak wood. The length is generous enough for trays, drinks and a stack of books, and the 15 inch height sits below a typical seat cushion, so it stays within easy reach from the deep Tolo seat. The ceramic top holds its color through long hours of direct sun, which matters on an open deck. You can see the rest of the family in the Tolo collection.

The Haven Range: Rounded Shapes for the Pool

Where Tolo is long and low, Haven is softer and more rounded. It is a classic modern collection of curved lines, and it won a 2024 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum. I think of it as the range for the pool side of the house.

The Haven Outdoor Lounge Chaise sets a light grey Sunproof cushion on a slim mocha aluminum frame wrapped in latte olefin rope, raised on FSC teak legs. It measures 30 inches wide and 82 inches long, stands 18 inches high, and weighs about 66 lb. The low height makes it easy to get on and off, and the wheels at the head end are the part people thank me for later. You roll it into the morning sun and back into the shade by the afternoon, which on a South Florida pool deck is most of the day's work. It starts at $2,299 and comes in one combination.

Next to it, the Haven Side Table is a small round table, 15 inches across and 18 inches tall, with a teak and beige ceramic top on a mocha aluminum base. It is $299. Put one between two chaises for drinks and sunscreen, or at the end of the Tolo Sofa where a second coffee table would crowd the space. The ceramic wipes clean after a storm, and the aluminum base handles salt air on a patio near the water.

The two ranges share teak, mocha aluminum and olefin rope, so mixing them looks intentional. A Tolo lounge group under the covered terrace and a pair of Haven chaises by the pool will feel like one outdoor room. Browse the full Haven collection to see the sofas, swivel chair and dining pieces.

Living With Teak and Rope in Boca Raton Weather

A few habits make these pieces last, and none of them are complicated.

Decide early about the teak. If you love the silver gray patina, leave it untreated and let the sun do its work. If you prefer the honey tone, oil it from time to time and plan to keep at it. Both look beautiful. What looks bad is the in-between, half oiled and half weathered.

Rinse the aluminum with fresh water every so often, especially if you live in Highland Beach or anywhere the salt spray reaches. It takes a hose and five minutes.

Bring cushions inside, or under cover, ahead of an afternoon storm in the rainy months. The rope itself sheds water quickly, but a cushion will thank you for the shelter. In the dry months from November on, this is much less of a worry.

How to See and Order These Pieces

I want to be clear about how outdoor works with us, because it is different from our indoor collection. Pebl outdoor furniture is special order, and we confirm availability on each piece before you order. The pieces are seen at our Miami warehouse by appointment, not on the Boca Raton showroom floor. In Boca we keep swatches, so you can hold the rope and the fabric in your hand.

That is why I still tell people to start in the showroom this season. First, the swatches. Olefin rope in latte or beige and a light grey Sunproof fabric look different in a photo than in daylight, and you can carry them to the window and see true color before you commit. Second, bring photos and measurements of your terrace. We can talk through the size of the Tolo Sofa against your covered area, where the chaises go, and whether the 71 inch coffee table fits the walkway to the pool. Third, timing. Snowbird season is starting, and if you want everything in place before family arrives for the holidays, it helps to plan the order and the white-glove delivery at the desk in one conversation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I see Pebl teak and rope outdoor furniture in Boca Raton?

Our Boca Raton showroom at 6599 N Federal Highway keeps swatches of the rope and fabrics. The outdoor pieces themselves are special order and are seen at our Miami warehouse by appointment. Call (561) 221-6111 to arrange a visit.

Will teak and aluminum outdoor furniture hold up near the ocean?

Aluminum does not rust, which is the main thing in salt air, and teak takes humidity and salt in stride. Rinse the aluminum frames with fresh water from time to time and the pieces are well suited to homes near the water.

What is the difference between the Tolo and Haven ranges?

Tolo is long and low, with a deep seat and an adjustable rope backrest on the Tolo Sofa. Haven is a classic modern range of rounded shapes and curved lines. Both use teak, mocha aluminum and olefin rope, so they mix well in one outdoor space.

Does the Tolo Sofa come with cushions?

Yes. It comes with two 20 x 20 in cushions and two 24 x 24 in cushions. It is offered in a mocha finish with latte rope, or a teak finish with beige rope and Sunproof fabric upholstery.

How do I care for the teak on these pieces?

Left untreated, teak weathers to a soft silver gray. If you prefer its warmer tone, oil it from time to time. Either way, the wood handles South Florida humidity well.

Is the Haven chaise easy to move around the pool?

Yes. It has wheels at the head end, so you can roll it into the sun in the morning and back into the shade later. It weighs about 66 lb and stands 18 inches high.
