Tolo Armchair
Description
The Tolo Armchair is a low, open lounge chair with the seat and backrest worked in olefin rope. It comes two ways: a mocha aluminum frame with latte olefin rope, upholstered in light grey fabric with light grey olefin rope on the backrest and seat, or a teak wood frame with beige olefin rope. The rope does most of the visual work, so the chair reads woven and quiet rather than bulky.
At 28 inches wide and 29 inches deep, Tolo fits where a full size lounge chair will not. Put a pair across from a sofa on a covered lanai, flank a fire table, or set four around a low table on a smaller terrace. The arms and the angle of the back make it comfortable for a long evening outside without the chair taking over the space. The finish choice is mostly a question of tone: the mocha aluminum reads modern and recedes into a dark deck or stone, while the teak is warmer and shows its grain.
Both versions are made for the way South Florida treats outdoor furniture. Aluminum will not rust in salt air, and teak weathers to a soft silver gray if you leave it untreated or keeps its warmer tone with occasional oiling. Olefin rope holds its color under strong sun and does not hold water, so an afternoon storm means little more than a rinse and time to dry.
