Sunset Coffee Table
Description
The Sunset Coffee Table is built on a mocha aluminum frame with a teak tray fixed into the top, so the surface you set a glass down on is solid wood rather than glass or stone. The teak warms up the dark frame and keeps the piece from reading as heavy. It is low and long, with the relaxed proportions of a table meant for a lounge group rather than a dining area.
At 33 inches deep and 19 inches wide, it fits in front of a sofa or between two lounge chairs without taking over a terrace or a balcony. Along with the fixed teak tray, the table comes with a small bottle cooler and a large teak tray, so drinks and glasses have a place during the evening and an easy way to come back inside at the end of it. At 14 inches high it sits below seat level, which is the right height to reach from a deep cushion. Mocha is the finish it is offered in, and it holds up well next to both light and dark upholstery.
Aluminum does not rust, which is the main thing to ask of a frame that lives near salt air in South Florida. The teak will go on its own schedule: left alone in full sun it weathers to a soft silver grey, and oiled once or twice a year it keeps its warmer honey tone. Either way, an afternoon storm is not a problem, and a rinse and a dry cloth handle most of what the season puts on it.
